East Dorset Rugby Football Club gladly welcomes you to our website and indeed the club itself! We have had a thoroughly good season and are now looking forward to the challenges in Dorset & Wilts II having gained promotion this year. It was a big decision to leave Hampshire I, but we hope in years to come it will prove to have been a very positive decision. New players will always be welcome at EDRFC, so please come down and introduce yourself.

East Dorset RFC 2009-2010

We are a small club, but our success is based on the welcoming atmosphere  at the club - where young and older players of all abilities are made welcome. There is plenty of opportunity for new players and members of the local community to come down and enjoy either playing for or supporting their local rugby team on saturday afternoons. The club enjoys a wide range of social events throughout the year. If you are interested and would like to know more then why not contact Club Captain Henry on 079156 71448 or email him at henry_stapleton@hotmail.com

Training is on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 7pm sharp until 9pm. We pride ourselves on being the friendliest club that a new player could hope to join and are seeing plenty of new faces already. One of the greatest strengths of this club is the enjoyable atmosphere at training.   Matches usually kick off at 2.30/3.00pm. We hope to welcome you down at the club. Please feel free to have a look around the website and see what the club is all about.

East Dorset then & Now

East Dorset Rugby Club was known as Portcastrians until 2003. Under guidance from the RFU the name was changed to attract more local players and sponsorship; a decision that has worked well to achieve both. Portchester School games master Niel Grant founded the club in 1966. Matches were first played at Merrick Park in the center of Bournemouth, with local pubs being patroned for post game socialising. The main haunt of those early years was the Cricketers Arms in Springbourne. more
Clubhouse Development

Clubhouse development: The Club President Gary Fretton is currently working very hard to gain finance for a new clubhouse. We invisage this being used not only by us but also the local football, tennis and BMX clubs that use Ilford playing fields. News to follow! more
